The 8th 'Stand up, dear city' workroom looked for the connections that define people, things and locations within the city. Through the tactics initiated throughout the walk we explored what it means to be connected to a certain place - how memory is used to form links and how our experiences, and the experiences of others, create our unique ‘sense of place’. We also looked at the formation of communities and how cities, through their density in terms of population and infrastructure, facilitate bonds whilst often dividing others. We walked through areas that regularly shift from amiable to hostile and searched out those people who are literally ‘central’ to daily life.
